Sleep – together with a healthy diet and sufficient exercise – is essential for good health. By sleeping, you give your body the necessary rest to recover physically from your daytime activities. The importance of a good night's sleep is often underestimated. Disturbed sleep predicts several negative outcomes, such as concentration problems and physical and psychological symptoms.

Overall, students sleep an average of 7 hours a night. The majority of students sleep an average of 7 or 8 hours a night (59%). One in three students (29%) report sleeping an average of less than 7 hours a night.
